Paint yourself Blue today.
Hidden wonder still waits quietly for us to discover its presence. Our frosted perceptions often cloud the view. The everyday mundane blasts its familiar horn into our ears, deafening us from the sounds of rapture, remembrance, bliss. We flinch at the noise, but we cannot shut our ears. Wonder is still all around us. Life is still waiting to be explored.Things which once came effortlessly, may at times require great discipline to sustain. When we are faced with difficult, unwanted or simply ordinary circumstances, we have to search for the wonder we once recognized so easily. We cannot let our eyes grow dim. We cannot be lulled to sleep. We cannot forget who we are.
I read a really cool quote somewhere recently. It said, " we don't quit playing because we grow old, we grow old because we quit playing."
Don't wait for the "muse" to come and find you. Search for the muse. Defy the allegations that say life is always the same, that everyday experience will always be the same. Search for beauty. Search for creativity. Search for the spark that triggers passion again. Choose to see life through the eyes of a poet or a child.
Redefine your priorities to include imagination, spontaneity, creativity, and discovery.
I was playing in Alabama and was given a gift basket in the hotel room. It was filled with all sorts of snacks and drinks. There was a big red apple sitting on top smiling widely at me. Now,I don't usually eat apples. They're just not something I would think of eating if I had the choice. I'd eat Doritos dipped in hummus or something that requires chopsticks. But this day I did eat the apple, simply because I usually wouldn't! As I sat there eating and contemplating the apple, I decided that I wanted to make it my goal to do something out of the ordinary every single day. No day should be common to the next. I made it my goal to do something completely different each day. Whether something as insignificant as eating something I don't usually eat, or doing something of much greater impact like painting my body blue and standing on the side of the road selling poetry and flowers. In all fairness, I haven't kept this goal very well, nor painted myself blue yet, but the opportunity is still lingering there if we take it.
LIFE IS ALIVE. DON"T FORGET TO USE YOUR CRAYONS.
we'll see you somewhere in September.
